Guys have only a few accessories to personalize their style...the 3 W's--wallet, watch and workbag. The first two are nearly obsolete thanks to the iPhone, but walk the streets of any city at rush hour and you'll see every man toting a bag of some sort.
Take a closer look at the millennials, and you'll mainly see backpacks. Why? Because millennials are practical. Briefcases you can only hold by the handle? Try balancing on the L with one of those. Single strap messenger bags? Anything more than a couple pencils in there and your shoulders will feel like someone took a hammer to them.
Indeed, the backpack has become the staple workbag of the 21st century. For that reason, guys are upping their game to find backpacks that are more acceptable in the workplace; after all, you can't show up to a meeting rocking the same Jansport as your clients' kids.
For this week's Mugsy Stlye Pick Of The Week, we're featuring backpacks by Jack Spade. We love Jack Spade's bags for two reasons:
1) They're extremely sturdy--One look at the craftsmanship and zippers and you'd think these things were made for the battlefield; and
2) Simply put, they look great--Subtlety is the name of the game, and Jack Spade focuses on clean looks for all their bags.
The only caveat here is the Jack Spade backpacks are pricey; the bags currently for sale on their website range from $248 - $398! That said, you can always find great backpacks on sale in the ~$100 range.
We snagged the bag depicted for just $109...a small price to pay for an awesome looking bag that will turn heads and be with you for the long-run.
For less pricey alternatives, check out bags made by Herschel and Everlane, which come in the sub-$100 range.
